Hello there!  We’re the Smith family.  There’s myself, Emma, my husband Craig, our son Ben and our little girl Larna who was born in January 2015 – two years since we settled here in Stourbridge.

Before moving to Stourbridge myself and Craig had travelled around the West Midlands and never found a place to settle; in fact we moved exactly 15 times within the seven years of being together.  Now that’s a lot of unsettled times, yet it hasn’t come without learning about a sense of community.  I’ve never felt such a strong sense of community than we do here.

Within the first 3 months we searched for a church to marry us, and we booked it for 23rd August 2014.  We started attending Lye Church for Lion Club and Sunday service, but then I had some sad news which urged our marriage to come sooner, so we were married on 7th Sept 2013.  We had so much to do and so little time.  It was everyone from Lye Church who came together for us – their neighbours – which made our wedding possible in just 6 weeks.

It is as a family we came to know the church and as a family we continue to love the ability for togetherness of the church family.

It is good to know that you are never alone.  We believe that God speaks to us through the family of the church, together with the teachings of the Bible.  We have come to understand that community and family is much bigger than that of the church: we are all God’s children and together with God we can encourage our children to believe in something good.
